We’re seeking a technically exceptional leader with 10+ years of software or data engineering experience, including recent work in AI or automation. You should demonstrate a strong ability to set architectural direction and scale delivery across multiple clients or products. Deep knowledge of large language models, AI orchestration tools (n8n, LangChain, Clay), and experience integrating cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure) with CRM/ERP or internal data systems is essential. Proficiency in at least one backend stack (Python, Node.js, or Go), experience with vector databases and RAG systems, and solid DevOps practices (CI/CD, containers) are required. Excellent client-facing and communication skills are a must, with a track record of delivering in fast-paced, cross-time-zone environments. Fluency in English and the ability to present to executives and non-technical stakeholders are important.

Common Forge is building an AI-enabled practice that delivers rapid, production-ready AI workflows for mid-market clients. The Principal AI Engineer will lead technical direction across multiple client engagements, translating business goals into scalable AI architectures and hands-on solutions. You will drive discovery with executive stakeholders, architect end-to-end AI-enabled systems, and shepherd the execution from concept to production. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on development and team mentorship to expand our AI-enabled offerings and accelerate client value realization.

• Translate business requirements into comprehensive technical designs, data flows, and scalable system architectures for AI-driven applications leveraging LLMs, APIs, and customer data.
• Architect and build proof-of-concept and production-ready systems using Python, Node.js, React, and TypeScript; orchestrate automation via platforms like n8n, LangChain, and Clay.
• Lead full-stack development and integration efforts, ensuring robust CI/CD, containerization, and secure deployment practices across distributed teams.
• Own delivery from prototype to production, maintaining high standards for speed, reliability, and security, while guiding engineering teams and reviewing code.
• Establish internal technical frameworks, reusable patterns, and best practices for AI workflows; mentor engineers and contribute to internal tools and documentation.
• Engage with clients directly, including executive stakeholders, to align solutions with business goals and measurable outcomes.

Prior experience leading nearshore teams and collaborating across time zones. Demonstrated ability to build and iterate AI-enabled platforms, develop reusable assets, and shape internal playbooks. Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for driving business value through technology and a strong customer-centric approach. Experience in mid-market consulting or digital delivery is a plus.
